Peru Adventure 7 Days – Machu Picchu, Salkantay Glamping & Huacachina

Welcome to Peru! We know how exhausting international flights can be, so upon your arrival in the Peruvian capital, we will make your arrival as smooth and stress-free as possible. Your Inti Sun Trek representative will be waiting for you at Lima Airport, holding a sign with your name, to welcome you and transfer you comfortably to your selected hotel.

After checking in, you can take time to relax, enjoy a refreshing shower, and recover from your journey. If you prefer, you may also explore nearby areas or enjoy Peru’s world-famous gastronomy with lunch at your hotel or at one of the many excellent local restaurants. Meals are not included on this day.

Depending on your arrival time, you also have the option to join the Lima City Tour, available daily at 8:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.

During the tour, you will explore three stages of Lima’s history: Ancestral, Colonial, and Modern Lima. Highlights include a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, the Historic Center of Lima with its impressive colonial architecture, the San Francisco Convent and Catacombs, and the modern districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.

The tour also includes a visit to the Central Reserve Bank Museum, where you can admire a collection of pre-Columbian gold, ceramics, and textiles.

Note: The Central Reserve Bank Museum is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

If you prefer not to join the City Tour, you can explore Lima at your own pace by visiting Miraflores, one of the city’s most popular tourist districts. You may enjoy a walk through Kennedy Park or go shopping at Larcomar, located along the Pacific coast.

In the evening, we recommend enjoying dinner at Central or Maido. Due to high demand, advance reservations are highly recommended.

Between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Lima and begin our journey south to Paracas.

Upon arrival in Paracas, we will head to the El Chaco pier to board a modern speedboat for an excursion to the Ballestas Islands, located in Paracas Bay.

During the tour, you will enjoy spectacular coastal scenery and observe a great variety of marine wildlife, including sea lions, Humboldt penguins, flamingos, parihuanas, and numerous seabirds.

Along the way, you will also see the famous Candelabra geoglyph carved into the hillside while your guide explains the different theories surrounding its origin. The boat tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

After the excursion, we will continue to the city of Ica, where you will have free time for lunch. Lunch is not included.

Later, we will visit the Noelia Chocolate Factory to taste traditional local products such as chocotejas, alfajores, jams, artisanal cookies, filled mousse, and more.

In the afternoon, we will explore the beautiful Huacachina Oasis, a natural lagoon surrounded by impressive sand dunes.

Here, you will enjoy an exciting dune buggy ride and sandboarding experience across the desert, as well as free time to walk around the oasis and take unforgettable photographs.

Before returning to Lima, we will visit a local winery where you will have the opportunity to taste some of the region’s traditional products, including wines, piscos, pisco creams, macerates, and mistelas.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., we will begin our return journey to Lima. Upon arrival at around 10:00 p.m., our team will transfer you to your selected hotel.

Today, your adventure in the Andean highlands begins.

After breakfast at your hotel in Lima, our representative will assist you with your transfer to Lima Airport for your flight to Cusco.

Please note: The Lima – Cusco domestic flight is not included in the package unless otherwise specified in your confirmed reservation.

During the flight, you may admire the dramatic change in scenery as Peru’s Pacific coastline gradually gives way to the majestic Andes Mountains.

Upon your arrival at Cusco Airport, your Inti Sun Trek representative will be waiting for you in the arrivals area, holding a sign with your name, to welcome you and transfer you comfortably to your selected hotel.

At approximately 3,399 meters (11,152 feet) above sea level, Cusco offers incredible history, culture, and spectacular mountain scenery.

After check-in, we recommend taking time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude.

Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or begin exploring the charming streets of Cusco at your own pace.

You can spend the afternoon walking through the Plaza de Armas, visiting the artistic neighborhood of San Blas, browsing local artisan shops, or relaxing in one of Cusco’s cafés.

In the evening, you may enjoy dinner at one of Cusco’s many restaurants and experience traditional Peruvian and Andean cuisine.

After breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up in Cusco and travel by private transportation to Ollantaytambo.

Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo train station, you will board the tourist train to Aguas Calientes, the town located at the base of Machu Picchu.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, your professional guide will meet you and assist you with the next part of your journey.

Today is the day you will visit Machu Picchu.

From Aguas Calientes, you will take the bus directly to the entrance of the citadel. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes, and the bus ticket is included in the tour.

Machu Picchu Entrance Time

Your entrance time will depend on availability at the time of booking and the circuit assigned on your admission ticket.

Your Machu Picchu entrance ticket and assigned circuit must be confirmed as part of your final reservation.

We recommend reviewing your confirmed entrance time in advance so you can properly plan your arrival at the citadel entrance.

Guided Tour of Machu Picchu

Once inside Machu Picchu, you will enjoy a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours.

During the tour, you will visit the areas permitted by your assigned circuit, which may include temples, Inca enclosures, agricultural terraces, and ceremonial areas.

Your guide will share the history of Machu Picchu and explain its architecture, culture, and the extraordinary engineering techniques developed by the Incas.

Return to Aguas Calientes

At the end of your visit, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes.

Once in town, you will have free time for lunch and to rest before heading to the train station. Lunch is not included.

Please arrive at the station with enough time to board your return train.

You will then board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.

Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, private transportation will be waiting to take you by road back to your hotel in Cusco.

Would You Like to Visit Huayna Picchu?

You can also add the hike to Huayna Picchu, provided there is availability and you have purchased the corresponding ticket in advance.

Entrance times are:

Group 1: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Group 2: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

The timing of your hike will depend on the ticket purchased and must be coordinated with your Machu Picchu entrance schedule.

Important: Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, and Machu Picchu Mountain are different attractions. Entrance to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain requires an additional ticket and is subject to availability.

If you would like to include Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain in your experience, please let us know in advance so we can check ticket availability.

Overnight stay in Cusco.

We will pick you up very early from your hotel and depart from Cusco toward the town of Mollepata. After approximately 3 hours of travel from Cusco, we will stop for breakfast. We will then continue our journey to Challacancha, where the trek begins.

As we hike, we will enjoy our first views of the surrounding landscapes while gradually acclimatizing to the altitude. We will arrive at Soraypampa, home to the luxury domes, where we will have our first views of the Humantay and Salkantay snow-capped mountains. Here, we will have some time to rest and enjoy lunch before continuing with the afternoon hike.

In the afternoon, we will trek to Humantay Lake, located at an altitude of 4,200 meters (13,780 feet).

The uphill hike takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, leading us to the beautiful turquoise waters of the lake.

From here, weather and cloud conditions permitting, we may also see the Humantay Glacier, which feeds the lake.

After spending some time at the lake, enjoying the scenery and taking photographs, we will begin our return to Soraypampa.

Upon arrival at the domes, we will enjoy dinner and a well-deserved rest surrounded by the spectacular Andean landscape.

We will wake up very early and enjoy breakfast before beginning our hike toward Salkantay Pass.

We will cross the spectacular mountain landscape, gradually gaining altitude as we ascend.

Along the way, we will enjoy different perspectives of the surrounding mountains and, weather permitting, views of the impressive high-Andean scenery surrounding Soraypampa.

We will continue along the trail until reaching Salkantay Pass at approximately 4,638 meters (15,213 feet), the highest point of the trek. If weather and cloud conditions are favorable, we will have the opportunity to enjoy impressive views of Salkantay Mountain while taking a well-deserved break after the ascent.

After enjoying this spectacular natural scenery, we will return along the same trail to Soraypampa.

Upon arrival, we will enjoy lunch and collect our belongings before boarding our private transportation back to Cusco.

Arrival in Cusco is estimated at approximately 6:00 p.m.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will prepare for your final day in Cusco.

The City Tour is subject to your flight departure time. If your flight schedule allows sufficient time to complete the excursion, you will meet your guide at approximately 9:00 a.m. in Cusco’s Plaza de Armas.

Your first visit will be Cusco Cathedral.

Continue on foot through the Historic Center toward Qorikancha – the Temple of the Sun.

At Qorikancha, your guide will explain the contrast between Inca stonework and the later colonial architecture built over the site.

Continue toward Avenida El Sol, where you will board your transportation for the archaeological section of the tour.

Visit Sacsayhuamán, famous for its enormous stone blocks and impressive Inca architecture.

Continue toward:

• Qenqo – known for its carved stone structures and ceremonial spaces
• Puka Pukara – an Inca archaeological complex located above Cusco
• Tambomachay – an archaeological site associated with water and ceremonial fountains

After the final visit, return to Cusco.

Please note: Entrance fees for the Cusco City Tour sites are not specified as included in the program and must be confirmed as part of your final reservation.

Later, according to your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Cusco Airport for your onward or return journey.

If your departure is earlier and does not allow enough time to complete the City Tour, the airport transfer will be coordinated according to your flight schedule.
