Amazon Farm – Native Machiguenga Family
Visit a local Amazonian farm to learn about tropical fruits and regional crops. In the afternoon, visit a Machiguenga family and discover aspects of their cultural heritage, traditions, handicrafts, and relationship with the rainforest.
Day 4:
Parrot Clay Lick – Puerto Maldonado Local Market – Airport Transfer
Begin the day with an early visit to a parrot clay lick, return to the lodge for breakfast, and then travel back to Puerto Maldonado. Visit the local market before continuing to Puerto Maldonado Airport for your onward flight.
Itinerary
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Corto Maltés Amazonía – Forest Trail – Caiman Safari
Highlight of the day: Begin your Amazon adventure with a scenic boat journey, a guided rainforest walk, and an evening caiman safari.
Reception and Transfer
Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado Airport, you will be welcomed by our staff and transferred to our office in the city.
Any luggage you do not need during your stay in the rainforest can be safely stored in our storage area, allowing you to travel more comfortably during the excursion.
Afterward, we will continue to Puerto Bolívar, where we will board our boat for the journey to Corto Maltés Amazonía.
The boat ride takes approximately 40 minutes along the Madre de Dios River, offering your first opportunity to enjoy the landscapes of the Peruvian Amazon.
Arrival at Corto Maltés Amazonía
Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink prepared with natural seasonal fruits.
Your guide will provide the information you need for your stay, explain the scheduled activities, and give you the keys to your bungalow.
Afterward, you will enjoy lunch and have time to rest before beginning the first excursion.
Note: For passengers whose flights arrive after 1:00 p.m., lunch will be provided as a box lunch prepared using 100% recyclable materials.
Forest Trail and Rubber-Tapper Camp
In the afternoon, we will begin our first rainforest experience accompanied by a specialized guide.
During the approximately 2-hour hike, you will learn about tropical trees, medicinal plants, and the lush natural environment found within the 60-hectare Corto Maltés Amazonía concession.
We will also visit a recreated traditional rubber-tapper camp, where you will learn about one of the historic economic activities of the Madre de Dios region.
Here, you will learn about the artisanal process used to extract rubber or natural latex, a raw material traditionally used in the production of different products.
Free Time
Back at the lodge, you will have free time to relax in the swimming pool or in the hammocks on your bungalow terrace.
You may also enjoy a cocktail at the bar, request a massage from qualified staff, visit the handicraft shop, or walk to the dock to admire the sunset over the Madre de Dios River.

Night Caiman Safari
Before dinner, we will take an evening boat ride along the river for an exciting caiman safari.
With a little luck, we may also observe other wildlife species that inhabit the riverbanks.
After the excursion, we will return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 2: Sandoval Lake – Observation Tower – Brazil Nut Camp
Highlight of the day: Explore Sandoval Lake in the Tambopata National Reserve and observe the Amazon rainforest from above.
Early Breakfast
We will begin the day early, waking up at approximately 5:30 a.m. to enjoy coffee or a hot herbal tea before departing for Sandoval Lake.
Your guide will provide you with a breakfast bag, which you will enjoy during the excursion.
Sandoval Lake
We will travel by boat for approximately 20 minutes along the Madre de Dios River until we reach the Sandoval Lake dock.
From this point, we will begin an approximately 3 km hike through lush tropical forest vegetation, entering the territory of the Tambopata National Reserve.
During the hike, we will observe large rainforest trees and, with a little luck, different wildlife species.
Possible sightings may include snakes, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, hoatzins, kingfishers, anhingas, and other rainforest birds.
Upon reaching Sandoval Lake, we will board small rowboats and explore the lake in search of giant river otters.
We may also have the opportunity to observe different reptiles, mammals, and birds living in their natural environment.
When the guide finds a suitable location, we will stop to enjoy our breakfast surrounded by the rainforest.
At the end of the visit, we will make sure all our belongings are accounted for and begin the walk back to the Sandoval Lake dock.
Lunch
We will return to Corto Maltés Amazonía to enjoy lunch and have some time to rest.
Observation Tower and Brazil Nut Camp
In the afternoon, we will visit one of the two observation towers located at Corto Maltés Amazonía.
One tower is approximately 20 meters high, while the other reaches approximately 42 meters.
Both towers were designed for birdwatching and wildlife observation from above while also providing beautiful views of the surrounding rainforest.
Your guide will coordinate which tower to visit according to passenger preferences and current conditions.
Afterward, we will visit a Brazil nut camp, where we will learn more about the collection, processing, and importance of Brazil nuts, one of the traditional economic activities of the Madre de Dios region.
Free Time
Upon returning to the lodge, you will have free time to enjoy the swimming pool, request a massage, have a refreshing drink at the bar, or visit the lodge boutique.
Dinner
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner in the lodge dining room.

Day 3: Amazon Farm – Native Machiguenga Family
Highlight of the day: Discover Amazonian agriculture and learn about the cultural heritage of a Machiguenga family.
Breakfast and Amazon Farm Visit
After breakfast, we will begin our excursion and travel approximately 20 minutes by boat to visit a farm managed by a local family.
During the visit, we will learn about different seasonal tropical fruits and native regional products such as cacao, plantain, cocona, breadfruit, noni, cassava, and lime.
Depending on the season and availability, you may have the opportunity to taste some of these products.
The farm belongs to a rural family from the area that cultivates and preserves different native species without using chemical products.
Some of the products grown on the farm are later taken to the main market in Puerto Maldonado for sale and local consumption.
Lunch
After the visit, we will return to Corto Maltés Amazonía to enjoy lunch.
Visit to a Native Machiguenga Family
In the afternoon, we will visit a family belonging to the Machiguenga ethnic group, one of the Indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon.
During this experience, we will learn about aspects of their cultural heritage, language, customs, traditional clothing, hunting techniques, handicrafts, and musical expressions associated with traditional ceremonies.
We will also learn how different natural resources from the rainforest are traditionally used to make tools, build homes, and create clothing and ornaments that form part of everyday life.
This visit provides an opportunity to gain a closer understanding of Machiguenga traditions and their relationship with the Amazon environment.
Free Time
Upon returning to the lodge, you will have free time to rest, visit the boutique, enjoy the swimming pool, have a drink at the bar, or request a massage.

Day 4: Parrot Clay Lick – Local Market – Puerto Maldonado Airport
Highlight of the day: Observe parrots at an Amazon clay lick before returning to Puerto Maldonado for your airport transfer.
Parrot Clay Lick
We will begin the day early, at approximately 5:30 a.m., with coffee or a hot herbal tea before starting an approximately 20-minute walk to the parrot clay lick.
Here, we will have the opportunity to observe between three and five species of parrots as they descend to feed on a special type of clay found in certain areas of the Amazon region.
This natural behavior offers an opportunity to enjoy an impressive display of colors and sounds in the heart of the rainforest.
Because these are wild animals in their natural habitat, sightings may vary depending on weather and wildlife activity.
Breakfast and Free Time
After visiting the clay lick, we will return to the lodge to enjoy breakfast.
Afterward, you will have a short period of free time before beginning the transfer back to Puerto Maldonado.
Return to Puerto Maldonado
We will board our boat and travel back along the Madre de Dios River to Puerto Bolívar.
Upon arrival, our transportation will be waiting to take us first to our office and then to the local market.
Visit to the Local Market
We will enjoy a short visit lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes, during which you will be able to see and learn about different local products that form part of the diet and daily life of Puerto Maldonado residents.
At the end of the visit, we will continue to Puerto Maldonado Airport, where you can complete the corresponding check-in procedures for your flight.
