Itinerary
Itinerary Climbing Nevado Mateo Full Day
Your day will begin with an early pickup from your accommodation in Huaraz, between 2:30 and 3:00 am, followed by a scenic 2.5-hour drive through Carhuaz, Shilla, and Huascarán National Park to Punta Olímpica. Upon arrival at 6:00 a.m, the trek starts with a one-hour hike through the moraine to the glacier’s base, where participants gear up with crampons and safety equipment to begin the one-hour climb to the summit of Nevado Mateo. At the peak, enjoy breathtaking views of Contrahiervas and the Cancará lagoons before descending along the same route.
After visiting and taking pictures, we will return the same way we came with a 2.5-hours hike, we will start the drive back to Huaraz, arriving between 3:00 and 3:30 pm.
