Day 1:

Day 2:

Begin the day with a forest walk, visit a coca plantation and wildlife rescue center, and continue to Atalaya Port. Travel by boat along the Alto Madre de Dios River to the Amazon EcoLodge. In the afternoon, explore the wetland area of MachuWasi Lagoon and enjoy an evening search for caimans.
Day 3:
Parrot Clay Lick – Forest Hike – Zip Line – Rappel – Night Walk
Visit the Parrot Clay Lick early in the morning, hike through the rainforest, and enjoy an adventurous afternoon with zip lining and rappelling. After dark, take a guided night walk in search of insects and amphibians before spending your second night at the Amazon EcoLodge.
Day 4:
Amazon EcoLodge – Atalaya – Cusco
Enjoy your final breakfast in the rainforest before traveling by boat back to Atalaya Port. Continue by tourist transportation to Cusco, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrival in Cusco is expected between approximately 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Paucartambo – Pilcopata Inn
Highlight of the day: Travel from the Andes into the Amazon rainforest while exploring Paucartambo and the spectacular Manu cloud forest.
We will depart from Cusco early in the morning in one of our tourist vehicles and begin our journey toward the Manu Cultural Zone.
During the trip, we will travel through fascinating Andean valleys and picturesque rural communities while enjoying the changing landscapes between the mountains and the Amazon rainforest.
Along the way, we will visit pre-Inca tombs associated with the Lupaca culture before continuing to Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town where we will visit its local museum and learn more about the history and traditions of the region.
We will then continue our journey toward the cloud forest, where we will stop for lunch.
As we descend through the cloud forest, we will enter one of the most biodiverse ecosystems of the Manu region. This area is home to numerous endemic species, including the Spectacled Bear and the Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird, famous for its distinctive appearance and courtship displays.
Along the route, we may also observe orchids, bromeliads, ferns, butterflies, birds, and other species typical of the cloud forest.
We will continue enjoying the spectacular landscapes until we arrive at Pilcopata Inn, where we will settle in and spend our first night.
Overnight stay at Pilcopata Inn.

Day 2: Pilcopata – Atalaya – MachuWasi Lagoon – Amazon EcoLodge
Highlight of the day: Explore the rainforest, navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River, and discover the wildlife of the Manu Cultural Zone.
After an early breakfast, we will take a guided walk through the surrounding forest to observe local wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and other rainforest species.
We will then visit a coca plantation, where you will learn about this traditional Andean-Amazonian crop, followed by a visit to a wildlife rescue center.
Afterward, we will travel to Atalaya Port, located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River at approximately 500 meters above sea level.
From Atalaya, we will board our motorized boat and begin our journey along the river. During the boat ride, we may observe different species of birds, including herons, vultures, cormorants, and other wildlife along the riverbanks.
We will continue downstream until we arrive at the Amazon EcoLodge.
After settling in, you will have time to relax, enjoy the natural surroundings, and, when conditions permit, swim in the river. We will then enjoy lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, we will explore the wetland area of MachuWasi Lagoon, where we may observe rainforest birds such as toucans, woodpeckers, macaws, and other species.
In the evening, before dinner, we will take a short excursion to search for caimans. Their eyes can often be spotted reflecting the light in the darkness along the river and wetland areas.
After the activity, we will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Parrot Clay Lick – Forest Hike – Zip Line – Rappel – Night Walk
Highlight of the day: Observe parrots at the clay lick, explore the rainforest on foot, and experience the Amazon canopy by zip line and rappel.
Very early in the morning, we will board our boat and travel to the Parrot Clay Lick, a natural clay wall along the riverbank where different species of parrots and parakeets gather during the morning.
Depending on wildlife activity, we may observe species such as blue-headed parrots, white-eyed parakeets, chestnut-fronted macaws, and other tropical birds.
At the clay lick, the birds consume mineral-rich clay, an important natural behavior commonly observed in this part of the Amazon rainforest.
After observing this fascinating wildlife activity, we will return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast.
Later, we will take a guided 2- to 3-hour forest hike, exploring the surrounding rainforest and learning about its plants, animals, and ecosystem.
After the hike, we will return to the lodge for lunch. You will then have time to rest or, when conditions permit, swim in the river.
In the afternoon, we will enjoy our ZIP LINE activity. Guests will have the opportunity to appreciate a unique view of the rainforest canopy while traveling between platforms installed high among the trees.
Safety equipment will be provided for the activity.
After the zip line experience, you will have the opportunity to descend approximately 25 meters by rappel back to the ground.
Later in the evening, we will take a guided night walk through the forest to search for insects, amphibians, and other nocturnal wildlife.
After the night walk, we will return to the lodge for dinner.
Overnight stay at Amazon EcoLodge.

Day 4: Amazon EcoLodge – Atalaya – Cusco
Highlight of the day: Enjoy your final morning in the Amazon before returning through the Andes to Cusco.
After a delicious breakfast, we will enjoy our final morning surrounded by the rainforest. Around the lodge, you may have the opportunity to observe hummingbirds and other bird species.
We will then board our boat and begin the journey back along the Alto Madre de Dios River to Atalaya Port.
Upon arrival at Atalaya, our tourist transportation will be waiting to begin the return journey to Cusco.
We will enjoy lunch along the route and continue traveling through the changing landscapes of the Amazon foothills, cloud forest, and Andes.
Arrival in Cusco is expected between approximately 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
