Day 1:

Day 2:
Pilcopata – Atalaya – MachuWasi Lagoon – Amazon EcoLodge
After an early breakfast, visit a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue center before continuing to Atalaya Port. Travel by boat along the Alto Madre de Dios River to Amazon EcoLodge. In the afternoon, explore MachuWasi Lagoon by balsa raft in search of birds and other Amazonian wildlife.
Day 3:
Parrot & Macaw Clay Lick – Atalaya – Cusco
Begin the final day with an early boat excursion to a clay lick, where different species of parrots and macaws gather in the morning. After breakfast, return by boat to Atalaya Port and continue by tourist transportation to Cusco, enjoying lunch along the route.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Paucartambo – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata Inn
Highlight of the day: Travel from the Andes into the Manu cloud forest while discovering Paucartambo and the extraordinary biodiversity of the region.
We will depart from Cusco early in the morning in one of our tourist vehicles and begin our journey toward the Manu Cultural Zone.
During the trip, we will travel through fascinating valleys between the Andes Mountains and picturesque rural communities.
Along the way, we will visit pre-Inca tombs associated with the Lupaca culture before continuing to Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town where we will visit its local museum and learn more about the history and traditions of the region.
We will then continue toward the cloud forest, where we will stop to enjoy lunch.
As we descend through the cloud forest, we will enter an ecosystem rich in endemic flora and fauna.
With luck, we may observe species such as the Spectacled Bear and the Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird, famous for its striking appearance and distinctive courtship display.
Along the route, we will also have the opportunity to appreciate orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and other vegetation characteristic of the cloud forest.
We will continue enjoying the spectacular landscapes until we arrive at Pilcopata Inn, where we will settle in and spend our first night.

Day 2: Pilcopata – Atalaya – MachuWasi Lagoon – Amazon EcoLodge
Highlight of the day: Navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River and explore MachuWasi Lagoon in search of Amazonian birds and wildlife.
We will have breakfast very early before beginning the activities of the day.
Our first visits will include a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue center, where you will learn more about local plants and some of the animals found in the region.
Afterward, we will travel to Atalaya Port, located along the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River at approximately 500 meters above sea level.
From Atalaya, we will board our motorized boat and begin our journey along the river.
During the boat ride, we may observe a wide variety of bird species, including herons, vultures, cormorants, and other wildlife along the riverbanks.
We will continue along the river until we arrive at Amazon EcoLodge.
Upon arrival, we will enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing with our afternoon excursion.
MachuWasi Lagoon
In the afternoon, we will take a guided excursion to MachuWasi Lagoon.
Once there, we will navigate the lagoon on traditional balsa rafts while observing the surrounding rainforest and searching for wildlife.
One of the most characteristic birds in this area is the hoatzin, an unusual tropical bird frequently found around wetlands and lagoons.
With luck, we may also observe caimans, monkeys, capybaras, and other Amazonian species living freely in their natural environment.
After the excursion, we will return to the lodge to rest and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Parrot & Macaw Clay Lick – Atalaya – Cusco
Highlight of the day: Observe colorful parrots and macaws at a natural clay lick before beginning the return journey to Cusco.
Very early in the morning, we will board our boat and travel to the Parrot and Macaw Clay Lick, a natural clay wall located along the riverbank.
Different species of parrots, parakeets, and macaws gather in this area during the morning.
Possible sightings may include the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, chestnut-fronted macaw, and other tropical bird species.
The birds gather to consume mineral-rich clay, a natural behavior commonly observed in different areas of the Amazon rainforest.
Because these are wild animals living freely in their natural habitat, the number and species of birds observed may vary depending on weather and wildlife activity.
After the excursion, we will return to the lodge and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
We will then prepare our belongings and board the boat for the return journey to Atalaya Port.
Upon arrival at Atalaya, our tourist transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
We will enjoy lunch along the route and continue traveling through the cloud forest and Andean landscapes.
Arrival in Cusco is expected at approximately 6:30 p.m.
