Peru Highlights 7 Days – Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain

Welcome to Peru! We know that international flights can be exhausting, so upon your arrival in Lima, we will make sure your welcome is comfortable and well organized. An Inti Sun Trek representative will be waiting for you at Jorge Chávez International Airport with a sign displaying your name to welcome you and transfer you to your selected hotel.

After check-in, you will have time to rest, take a shower, and recover from your journey. If you prefer, you can also explore the surrounding area or enjoy Peru’s renowned cuisine at your hotel or at one of the nearby restaurants. Meals are not included on this day.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have the option to take the Lima City Tour, available daily at 8:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.

During the tour, you will discover the three historical stages of Lima: Ancient, Colonial, and Modern Lima. Highlights include a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, Lima’s Historic Center, the San Francisco Convent and its Catacombs, as well as the modern districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.

The tour also includes a visit to the Central Reserve Bank Museum, where you can admire an important collection of pre-Columbian gold artifacts, ceramics, and textiles.

Note: The Central Reserve Bank Museum is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

If you decide not to take the City Tour, you can explore Lima on your own. We recommend visiting Miraflores, walking through Kennedy Park, or visiting Larcomar, located overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

After breakfast at your hotel in Lima, our representative will pick you up and transfer you to Jorge Chávez International Airport for your flight to Cusco.

Please note: The Lima – Cusco domestic flight is not included in the package unless otherwise specified in your confirmed reservation.

Upon your arrival at Cusco Airport, a local representative will be waiting for you with a sign displaying your name. To make the acclimatization process easier, we will continue directly to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which is located at a lower altitude than the city of Cusco.

Along the way, we will visit a traditional textile center, where you can observe llamas, alpacas, guanacos, and vicuñas, as well as learn about traditional weaving, dyeing, and textile-making techniques inherited from Andean cultures.

Afterward, we will visit the archaeological complex of Pisac, known for its agricultural terraces, Inca enclosures, temples, and ceremonial areas.

We will then descend to the town of Pisac to explore its traditional handicraft market.

We will continue to a restaurant in the Sacred Valley, where you will enjoy lunch prepared with local ingredients. Lunch is included in the program.

Finally, you will be transferred to your selected hotel in the Sacred Valley.

After breakfast at your hotel, we will begin our tour of some of the main attractions in the Sacred Valley.

We will visit Chinchero, known for its beautiful landscapes, traditional streets, and ancestral textile techniques. We will then continue to Moray, an impressive complex of circular agricultural terraces traditionally associated with Inca agricultural experimentation.

Afterward, we will visit the Maras Salt Mines, consisting of hundreds of salt pools fed by a natural saltwater spring. These terraces have been used for salt production since pre-Inca times and continue to be managed by local families.

We will continue to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch.

In the afternoon, we will arrive in Ollantaytambo, where we will visit its archaeological complex and learn about its impressive Inca architecture, terraces, temples, and stonework.

After the visit, we will head to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our representative will meet you and accompany you to your selected hotel.

Today is the day you will visit Machu Picchu.

After planning your trip, today you will finally visit Machu Picchu, one of the most impressive archaeological destinations in the world.

To begin your visit, from Aguas Calientes you will take the bus directly to the entrance of the citadel. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes, and the bus ticket is included in the tour.

Machu Picchu Entrance Time

Your entrance time will depend on availability at the time of booking and the circuit assigned on your admission ticket.

We recommend reviewing your entrance time in advance so you can properly plan your arrival at the citadel entrance.

Guided Tour of Machu Picchu

Once inside Machu Picchu, you will enjoy a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours.

During the tour, you will visit the areas permitted by your assigned circuit, which may include temples, Inca enclosures, agricultural terraces, and ceremonial areas.

Your guide will share the history of Machu Picchu and explain its architecture, culture, and the extraordinary engineering techniques developed by the Incas.

Return to Aguas Calientes

At the end of your visit, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes.

Once in town, you will have free time for lunch and to rest before heading to the train station. Lunch is not specified as included. Please arrive at the station with enough time to board your return train.

You will then board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, transportation will be waiting to take you by road back to your hotel in Cusco.

Would You Like to Visit Huayna Picchu?

You can also add the hike to Huayna Picchu, provided there is availability and you have purchased the corresponding ticket in advance.

Entrance times are:

Group 1: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Group 2: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

The timing of your hike will depend on the ticket purchased and must be coordinated with your Machu Picchu entrance schedule.

Important: Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, and Machu Picchu Mountain are different attractions. Entrance to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain requires an additional ticket and is subject to availability.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will have a free day to rest, explore Cusco independently, go shopping, enjoy local restaurants, or visit some of the city’s most popular attractions.

Your day will begin with an early pickup from your accommodation in Cusco, between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. Our tourist transportation will take you south of Cusco to the town of Cusipata. The transfer lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Upon arrival in Cusipata, we will have breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue our trip toward Rainbow Mountain for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. On the way to the mountain, you will have the chance to enjoy beautiful landscapes and observe local wildlife.

We will start our adventure with an uphill hike of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, with snow-capped mountains and spectacular high-Andean landscapes in the background.

Finally, we will reach the viewpoint, where we will be able to appreciate the colors of Rainbow Mountain and the surrounding scenery.

After visiting the site and taking pictures, we will return along the same route with an approximately 1.5-hour hike.

We will then enjoy lunch before beginning the drive back to Cusco, arriving between approximately 5:00 and 5:30 p.m.

At the previously coordinated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer you to Cusco Airport for your onward or return flight.
