Head to Lima Airport for your flight to Cusco.

Cusco was the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and remains one of Peru’s most important historical and cultural destinations.

Because of the altitude, take your first day at a relaxed pace, stay hydrated, and allow your body time to acclimatize.

After arrival, enjoy free time to explore Cusco’s historic center and its narrow stone streets.

• Explore the archaeological complex of Puka Pukara.

This morning you will depart from your hotel in Cusco and travel toward the Sacred Valley.

Your first stop will be Chinchero, a traditional Andean village known for its Inca terraces, colonial-era buildings, and textile traditions.

You will have the opportunity to observe local weavers producing handmade textiles using traditional techniques.

From Chinchero, continue to Moray, an impressive complex of circular stone terraces.

Although the exact purpose of Moray remains uncertain, the site is commonly associated with Inca agricultural experimentation in different microclimates.

Continue through the surrounding agricultural landscape toward the Maras Salt Flats.

This impressive site consists of hundreds of salt pools arranged along the mountainside and traditionally used for salt production.

After the visit, continue to Ollantaytambo, a historic town in the Sacred Valley located along the Urubamba River.

You will have time to appreciate its cobblestone streets, central plazas, and impressive surrounding Inca structures.

After breakfast, you will take the train from Ollantaytambo toward Aguas Calientes.

The train journey follows the valley and the Urubamba River before entering the cloud forest near Machu Picchu.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will have time to prepare for your visit before taking the approximately 25-minute bus ride to the entrance of Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu is located at approximately 2,430 meters / 7,970 feet above sea level.

During your approximately two-hour guided visit, your guide will explain the history, architecture, terraces, buildings, and important sectors of the Inca citadel.

The boat journey continues deep into the rainforest until reaching Refugio Amazonas Lodge, your base for the next two nights.

Depending on natural conditions, you may also observe caimans, hoatzins, and colorful tropical birds.

Early morning is described in the itinerary as one of the best periods for wildlife observation.

After the excursion, return toward the lodge and walk approximately 20 minutes to the Parrot Clay Lick.

From a protected observation area, you can watch parrots and parakeets descend to the riverbank to feed on mineral-rich clay.
