Inca Trail Availability & Permits 2018, Inca Trail Reservation
The system of reservations for the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu has been changed for 2018. SERNAP, The Peruvian government body in charge of the management of the Inca Trails leading to Machu Picchu has reorganized the way tour operators are granted permissions to operate in the National Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
Up until 2017, reservations for the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu used to start on January 6th. On that date, authorized tour operators would compete with each other to secure bookings for their clients which was done on a first come first served basis. However, that system of reservations will no longer be applicable in 2018. Due to the new system of reservations for the Inca Trail enacted by SERNAP Inca Trail permits, and reservations for 2018 will be obtained since October 1st, 2017.
What this means is that Inca trail permits will be put on sale three months earlier than what they used to in previous years, which in turn will accelerate the competition for the most demanded dates to hike the Inca Trail in 2018 which are the months of May June July and August.
So if you are planning to hike the Inca Trail during those months we highly recommend you to send your personal information and the tour deposit as soon as you can.
